Watching For:

• Impacts of heavy Maumee/Erie watershed fall rains when a lot of manure is applied and spring weather in 2022 that will determine the algae in Lake Erie
• Settlement of Clean Water Act Law Suit to reduce nutrients(excess nitrogen and phosphorus) causing Harmful Algae
• The Maumee/Western Lake Erie Watershed continues to get bombarded with more and more Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations that land apply more manure than the sewage of all Ohioans.
• The Maumee/Western Lake Erie Watershed is helped by family farms that use commercial fertilizer and are reducing the amount of phosphorus being applied to the fields - about a 40% reduction)
• Progress on Erie Marsh protection - Lake Erie's silent gem
• Thank federal and State of Ohio officials for funding and helping with sturgeon assessment for reestablishment in the Cuyahoga River
• Watch for Judge Carr's settlement announcement on the Lake Erie Total Maximum Daily Load( a pollution diet) coming out soon
• Thank local officials who are supporting the Lake Erie Executive Order supporting local government's need for phosphorus reductions to reduce costs in water treatment plant operations
